Former CRTC Commissioner flawlessly describes the Canadian Government’s revolving failing financial partnership with the mainstream media while speaking about Bill C-18.

Peter Menzies a former CRTC Commissioner and newspaper writer recently joined the House of Commons Heritage Committee on Bill C-18 and explained how mainstream media and the Government are engaged in a revolving financial circus.

“Having media and the Government team up doesn’t seem to be the best idea. The more Government assistance the media gets, the more broken the relationship with readers becomes. The more that relationship is broken, the more subsidy will be required.” said Menzies.

Pointing to a recent survey, Menzies says, “Trust in Canada’s media has never been lower, Canadians believe that 61% of journalists are purposefully misleading them, while 58% think the same of Government.”
