Storm Damaged Maple 🍁; The Takedown

Video of the takedown today of this badly storm-damaged maple with a rotten trunk.(it wasn't the storm that killed this tree it had a disease)

Had I not first climbed it and removed the very large limb perched overhead it most likely would have rolled off on my head.

In fact that's the most common type of accident to tree cutters likely to result in death, overhead limbs dislodging when the tree begins to list over and striking the cutter.

Climbing it also allowed me to remove the limbs over the fence which as you can see from the ones I left which are mere feet from the fence, would have likely fallen on the fence.

It's about following protocol, you don't do C before doing A and B because in this line of work C's likely to get you killed.
