She’s given up… On things once wished for. Marriage. Children. Friendships.
Loneliness and despair seep in, as she settles into her fate. Sometimes, even leaving cookies on neighbors’ doorsteps, just to pretend she has friends. Some connection. Facing another weekend alone, she grabs the remote. Startled by a knock at the door, she’s greeted by her new neighbor- a very familiar plate in his hands. “Hi, I’m John,” he says smiling. “Thanks for the cookies. I thought maybe we could share them.” She finds herself smiling in return, as she opens the door. The weight of loneliness beginning to lift.
