Big Hollow Poplar

Ugly scary poplar today. Tree had a heavy canopy but a completely rotted out (brown rot) and hollow trunk. No place for a good hinge. I cut 6 inches into the trunk and my bar was tasting air.

I ended up climbing it briefly and removing a large overhead back limb then I carefully worked my back cut in wedging it with the extremely limited shelf space for the wedges.

Worked it over fine, just needed to be careful. But there were a few scary moments there including a dead upper canopy limb letting go as it went over.
