"Amazing Grace" is one of the most well-known songs in the English-speaking world. It conveys the message that redemption and forgiveness are possible regardless of the sins committed and that the soul can be liberated from despair through the kindness of God.

The beloved hymn and its author, John Newton, was a man who atrociously traded in human beings as slaves. As he says in the melody, he was a misery, but God found him.
