The Boston Celtics have suspended Ime Udoka for a full year, banning the coach who led them to the NBA Finals last spring for the entire 2022-23 season over what two people with knowledge of the matter said was an improper relationship with a member of the organization.

The people spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the team did not reveal that detail publicly. In a statement issued Thursday night after a full day of wrangling over the terms of the punishment, the Celtics said Udoka violated team policies and left open the possibility that a longer separation could follow.

A 56-year-old mother from St. George, Utah has revealed she is pregnant with her own son’s baby, after her daughter-in-law discovered she was unable to carry a child.

Nancy Hauck, from St. George, Utah, decided to be a surrogate for her son, Jeff Hauck, 32, and his wife, Cambria, 30, after her daughter-in-law underwent a life-saving hysterectomy and is now unable to carry a pregnancy. This would be Jeff, and his wife’s fifth child; the couple already has two sets of twins.

"I felt grateful to have such a selfless and loving mom that was willing to make that kind of sacrifice for my family ... having experienced over four years of infertility treatments, I knew how complicated the process can be and doubted that it was possible for her to carry a baby for us, but I was very moved that she would even offer," Jeff said. "I never imagined I would be pregnant at 56 or that this would be possible, but it is the most beautiful thing," Nancy said.
