Patrick Walter Brown is a Canadian politician who has served as Brampton's 51st and current mayor since 2018. He entered politics when he won a seat on Barrie City Council in 2000 before later joining the Conservatives party & becoming a member of parliament (MP) for York Centre during 2006-2015 representing Canada until 2017 when became leader of Ontario Progressive Conservative Party which led him to resign his position. After winning the election to represent Simcoe North in the Ontario Legislative Assembly, Brown was appointed opposition leader. Up to his expulsion from the caucus in 2018, he presided as a leader. Later, he made a comeback to local politics and won the Brampton mayoral election. Brown ran for the federal Conservative leadership in 2022, but he was disqualified due to allegations that his campaign broke the Canada Elections Act. As mayor of Brampton, he is now running for reelection.
