Center-right coalition consisting of the Brothers of Italy, League and Forza Italia parties gained 44.53%

The poll by RAI showed three parties, including the far-right Brothers of Italy, will take between 41% and 45% of the vote. The other two parties in the grouping are Matteo Salvini's League and Silvio Berlusconi's Forza Italia party.

A center-left bloc was projected on 22.5% to 26.5 percent.

The cost of living crisis dominated campaigning and, following divisions between center- and left-wing parties, the right were widely expected to gain power.

Italy's next prime minister will now be chosen by President Sergio Mattarella following consultations with parliament.

"Italy has chosen us and we will not betray it, as we have never betrayed it. It is important to understand that, if we are called to govern this nation, we will do it for everyone, for all Italians, with the aim of uniting this people".
