Putin receives ‘brush back’ from Xi, Modi on Ukraine war

Russian President Vladimir Putin got a “brush back” from Chinese President Xi Jinping and India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the Ukraine war in recent weeks, former US ambassador to NATO Kurt Volker says.

“I think Putin was counting on some political and moral support if nothing more from Xi and perhaps Modi, or at least opportunistic behaviour from them,” Mr Volker told Sky News Australia.

“He got quite the opposite – he got a brush back from both Xi and he had to acknowledge that Xi raised concerns about the war in Ukraine and from Modi.

“And I would add also from Erdogan.”
