Tommy was a lovely black Labrador Retriever.

He lived in a luxury apartment in New York City

where he was provided with the best canine cuisine,

a very plush bed

and all the toys and treats a dog could want

Most of all, he was lavished with love

Tommy’s owners, Jack and Emily, adored Tommy

They considered him their son

They had very important jobs that made them lots of money but left little time for their pet

Left alone all day, Tommy had often noticed the dog next door, Angel

She was a Yorkie-Poo, a white one at that

He loved how she was impeccably groomed and watched intently from the window

as she walked with her owner every morning

He hated, however, the way she snubbed her nose at him

One day, Tommy discovered how to open the front door of the apartment

He made his way down to Central Park where he stumbled on a pack of homeless dogs

They quickly became great friends

He saw a white mess of a dog obviously lost and forlorn

A closer look told him it was Angel, the dog next door

Angel told Tommy her owner, an older lady, had passed away during the night and she was being taken to the pound

She had escaped and landed in the park

Tommy got together with the group of dogs and Angel had a home with the homeless

It was there that the real story began
