The pyramids served as power plants!" This is what Dr. Wassim al-Sisi said while speaking to one of the Arab television channels. The original query concerned who built the Egyptian pyramids. He defended the Egyptians and slammed those who claim the pyramids were built by Jews

I am a fan of this man; he speaks in a beautiful and calm tone, he is a polite person, and I admire and respect him. But when he says the pyramids were power plants, I feel obligated to respond because this has been my specialization and field of study within Egyptian antiquities for more than a half-century.

I'd like to point out that this talk has no scientific backing, but is a metaphor I've heard many times from non-specialists who haven't studied Egypt's history.
