Gratitude and Grudges – Being Dad with Phil Lower, September 25, 2022

Being anxious about anything robs you of peace and keeps you ungrateful.

Being anxious can also lead to anger and holding grudges.

When you express gratitude, it is impossible for you to hold a grudge against that person at the same time.

Gratitude is a great cleanser.

Mechanical teaching builds a habit but not a heart.
One of the first things we teach our kids is to say Thank You or ask “What do you say?”

As we mature, we learn that part of being open to constructive opportunities and closing doors to destructive ones is healthy for all involved.

But, are we actually grateful enough or appreciate the normal and mundane successes enough?

It’s been said a man’s home is his castle. But that sanctuary and peace should flow to and abound to everyone that enters in.

When you get home after a rough, hard day. How often do we appreciate having a peaceful home?

And, when we are there already and our husband, wife, or kids arrives home, how often do we give them space to appreciate the peace?

Let’s be grateful for waking up and having healthy lungs, for being able to think clearly, for being able to brush our teeth, for sipping some orange juice at a table.

These are everyday things that will give us so much more presence and help us to build up ourselves and our families.
