The following information is from a press release issued in August of 1989:

UFO Documentary Uncovers Truth About 23 Year-Old Close-Range Sighting

"The Extraterrestrial Hypothesis" is a half-hour documentary spotlighting a close-range UFO sighting made in April 1966 by four Sharon, Massachusetts police officers (one of whom went on to become Chief) - along with a family of three people. All were near enough to witness a "football-shaped," unidentified low-hovering object with red and white flashing lights, windows and "mullions" (window dividers).

Also interviewed for the in-depth, local production - which was created over a 3 year period - is MUFON investigator Raymond E. Fowler, author of "UFOs: Interplanetary Visitors" and director of the Woodside Planetarium and Observatory in Wenham, MA. Mr. Fowler coincidentally sighted a similar object on the North Shore only 3 days after "The Sharon Saucer," as it had become known.

Included in this provocative, informative program are photographic evidence; radio reports; audio tapes & personal testimonials regarding unidentified aircraft, alien abductions and the enigmatic phenomenon of "men in black."

At the August 1986 MUFON (Mutual UFO Network) Forum in Beverly, MA, producer *David Fine interviewed author Dr. David M. Jacobs ("The UFO Controversy in America") who is currently Professor of U.S. History at Temple University; and MUFON historian, author Barry J. Greenwood ("Clear Intent") who describes a shocking alien landing involving numerous military personnel at RAF Bentwaters NATO base in England.

Other prominent investigators featured:

The late Dr. J. Allen Hynek - U.S. Air Force "Project BlueBook" Investigator / Spokesperson.

Dr. Richard F. Haines (Ph.D. in Psychology) - Psycho-physiologist for Ames Research Center (a NASA facility), specializing in human visual perception; directing a project team for the planned Space Station; author of: "Observing UFOs.

Budd Hopkins - noted researcher involving UFO abduction cases; artist; author of: "Missing Time."

[*Parenthetically, the producer of this documentary - who was 11 years old at the time of "The Sharon Saucer" event - lived approximately 1/3 of a mile from the area of the sighting in 1966.]
