Pablo González was arrested by Poland in February. He was born in Moscow but moved to the Basque Country as a child and has both Spanish and Russian passports. He works for Spanish media and was arrested in February while reporting on Ukrainian refugees in Poland, near the Ukrainian border. He’s incommunicado and not even his wife or children can talk to him. Poland accuses him of being a spy for the Russian GRU. He denies it and says he’s just a reporter doing his job. He could get 10 years in jail for the charge. Spanish authorities are silent on the issue, and in Spanish media you can’t find almost anything about him. He was also previously interrogated by the Spanish intelligence agency CNI. What’s going on? This is not in Ukraine, but Poland, an EU country.
