M2 MacBook Air Review - Should You Buy One? Is the base model M2 MacBook Air good enough for everyday users? There is so much hate and controversy surrounding the new M2 MacBook Air 2022! Regarding M2 MacBook Air Thermal Throttling, Overheating and M2 MacBook SSD Issues! But I think we forget about who the base mode M2 MacBook Air is made for?

This is the new M2 MacBook Air! One of the lightest and thinnest Macbook’s Ever! Even in light of all the negativity surrounding this Apple Product, I absolute love it! You see as great as those YouTube Videos are that run benchmarks, and push the M2 Chip to the limit to see how it performs. I think they miss a massive point that the M2 Air is not intended for that type of sustained workload. I’ve always viewed the MacBook Air as the perfect student laptop, because it is always lightweight and portable, usually relatively affordable! Although this year the price is on the higher side more like a MacBook Pro and it also provides plenty of power for day to day tasks such as writing email, essays whilst having the ability to do harder things like video editing or recording audio in Logic for those end of year exams that are more complex. Programmes you do use every day, just on odd occasions! Interesting this year the M2 Air got more love from Apple than the M2 MacBook Pro. We have a complete redesign, that looks fantastic. The removal of the Touch Bar, replaced by full size function keys, Touch ID is present. Awesome for fast sign-in, unlocking passwords and also using Apple Pay when online shopping! The typing experience is also greatly improved, as the keyboard is the same as a Magic Keyboard on an iMac.
Furthermore, we have new colours such as Midnight and Starlight along with a 1080p Webcam that is much better than the 720p Webcam in the more expensive M2 MacBook Pro! Which is still using the old outdated curvy design from 2016! MacBook Air Review! The Base Model M2 Air, the cheapest you can buy! Which is still pricey at £1,249, it hurt me a little to buy this! As it does only have 256GB and after a lot of apps and programs this could fill up fast! But the base models I think best represents what most people want from the a MacBook Air an enjoyable, fast and easy to use daily driver. And that is exactly what it is! This is the first time I have actually been impressed by a MacBook in a long while! I was very disappointed by the M1 Max 14inch the Fan Noise and Crazy Temperatures made that unusable for me. But this, is silent as it has no fans which let’s you concentrate when completing productivity tasks! And my requirements have changed for what I want from a laptop, since the M1 Max, I don’t need it for intense video editing anymore only light work for TikTok’s or YouTube Shorts. Which is not intense enough to cause any thermal throttling on the M2 Air while working on the go! So the benefits of a lighter laptop, which is smaller and thinner is worth it! The only thing I would change is the Storage! There are some speed issues with the 256GB Model if you’re using a lot of memory as it is working on a single channel! But if you upgrade to the 512GB you get a Dual Channel SSD that is much faster! and more consisting with it’s speeds! So for that reason I have decided to return this laptop and send it back! But I will place an order for the slightly more powerful 10 Core version with the upgraded CPU and 512GB just for future proofing! As I have loved using this laptop so much. I want it to be my daily driver and it might be time for me to sell the M1 iPad Pro which is my current go to!
