Inside Saudi Arabia’s Eco City: King Abdullah Economic City

In the desert outside of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, an ambitious project is taking shape. King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC) will be a self-sustaining city built from scratch; it will produce its own food and water, generate its own power, and sustain its own population. The new city is part of a larger effort by the Saudi government to diversify the country’s economy away from oil and encourage investment in other sectors of the economy.
