1. Costs Were reduced from 30k to 17k, almost half. The balance $8k plus are costs and disbursements arising out of setting aside and taxation proceedings. This comes up to $23k plus. I consider this a victory.

2. FC did not get their invoices confirmed.
Despite the disagreements to the hours billed, FC did not get the bills taxed. They sued me straight away for bankruptcy.

3. What the disagreements were:
a) I did not talk to my lawyer a single time when I was in remand. I fail to understand how the bill could come up to 30k.
I disagreed to him billing per hour rate of interns at $500 per hour.

b) 4-5 lawyers / law interns at a court mentioned!
I also disagreed with him sending 4-5 lawyers (mostly interns) to my court mention and billing me all their time costs. Why is there a need for so many lawyers when they could not even talk to me?

c) Hours are not accounted for. Messy invoicing.
FC did not inform me that I will be billed when eg. it was a casual phone call to pitch to me why I must continue to engage them and how superior they are as criminal lawyers. This is another type of billing I did not agree to.
The invoicing was also extremely messy.

d) On $4999.
We had paid $4999 as we thought $5000 was the full and final bill in remand. Had we known that there were another $30,000, it would not be $1 that would be discounted for not following instructions.

In Summary, "While it's stressful to have another legal lawsuit and I had to pay another set of lawyers to dispute this, it is not the amount but the principle of this lawsuit: That lawyers cannot anyhow overcharge and I'm glad the judge agreed with us on this and cut the bill by almost half.
While I still disagree to the final bill and would have appealed if I am not suffering from cancer, I respect the final judgement. "
