Why is a Warm Greeting So Important in Sales?

This message is for all you salespeople out there. I just want to talk to you about the way that you interact with your potential customers. Right. That first interaction, that first 3 seconds makes or breaks the deal. Yesterday, I had an experience. I went to a car dealership. I was actually just trying to sell my car. A salesperson came out and he was just this old grumpy man and didn't seem like he wanted to help me.

And at the end of the day, he didn't help me. So I want to talk to you about like that, but that set the tone for the entire experience. So whether the dealership was fantastic, I mean, whether the the sales manager was good, the general manager was good where the service part was good, none of that mattered because the salesperson came out and the way that I was greeted, I did not feel welcomed.

And I actually had some anxiety, which was really weird for me because I've been in and around car businesses pretty much my whole life. And yeah, I just didn't then get a good experience. So make sure that you take that first, you know, 3 seconds and you just a great, great little smile, a firm handshake. You know, if you can make them laugh, give them a compliment, something like that.

But those first 3 seconds really, really, really matter.
