Russia: Putin announces 'partial mobilization' of Russian military

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced in footage published on Wednesday, September 21, the partial mobilization of Russian military reserve forces amid intense fighting in Ukraine.

In a speech broadcast from Moscow, Putin said a decree had been signed to mobilize Russia’s reserve military forces, effective from September 21.

Putin also said the Kremlin would support planned referendums in territories partially controlled by Russian forces in Ukraine, including Zaporizhzhia and Kherson Oblasts, and Donetsk and Luhansk, which have been occupied since 2014. The referendums are set to be held starting on Friday.
