I'll bet that even with a family who all love them, most folks have their own preferences for the bird(s) they want to adopt. And when it comes down (to adopting), there's no real reason or need in my opinion to pick out an animal by its name - at least not if your criteria are pretty simple: you probably like animals simply because they're cute, useful/interesting, etc., so maybe make some friends around those terms? I wouldn't try this approach unless something really amazing happened just before going through these steps!
