Waukesha daycare worker accused of abuse appears in court

A loaded gun that was not locked in a box was found in an unlocked office inside The Lawrence School last week when authorities searched the daycare. State inspection records show authorities also found an unlocked bottle of prescription medication. The Lawrence School serves babies and children up to 12 years old. It is the source of a long list of violations posted on the state's website that monitors daycare centers from when inspectors last checked the facility on Sept. 2 and Sept. 14, subsequently shutting it down.
