There is a legitimate reason why the Vatican's Secret Archives, also known as Archivum Secretum Apostolicum Vaticanum, are the focus of outlandish conspiracy theories. Who wouldn't speculate with such a name? However, as far as the general public is aware, the Archives have historical records from at least 12 centuries ago, including Michelangelo's original letters, financial records, correspondence, and even a petition from the Canadian Ojibwe tribe that was written on birch bark in 1887.
