Old Rope Swing Sight From The Past
11
While looking for a reasonable site for a creek video, I came across this old tree leaning over the East bank Mill Creek on the West end of Shawnee Mission Park. While there I suddenly realized the significance of this tree when I spotted a blue rope on it. This looks like the same tree sight that we used to frequent back when we were teenagers for rope swinging. We would grab the rope and swing over above the creek and let go and plunge into the water. Of course, the levels were much higher in Mill Creek back in the day. If one tried to use this rope swing today, they would risk injury being as how shallow of the creek is now. The area brought back some fond memories.
