Trump says Democrats and Biden are emptying strategic oil reserves in a bid to win the election - could end up doubling US fuel prices after new Senate election

Former US President Donald Trump has said that current White House boss Joe Biden is emptying strategic reserves in an attempt to drive down fuel prices ahead of the election. To win the upcoming Senate and House elections, he said, Democrats, are also spreading misinformation, including about Russia.

However, Trump noted, that immediately after the election, fuel could double in price. US authorities are now releasing 1 million barrels of oil a day from reserves, in addition to producing up to 12 million barrels a day.

As a result, the price of fuel has indeed fallen, but it is likely to rebound soon - on Wednesday, strategic reserves reached their lowest level since 1984. This is also evidenced by the fact that oil producers have previously refused to export fuel to Europe - capacity may not even be enough for the US.
