HOT CHOCOLATE Breathing for Children with ADHD and Anxiety. #shorts

What child can go past a delicious cup of hot chocolate? So, what better way to anchor deep breathing in their automatic behavioural responses than to get them to imagine (or even have) a cup of hot chocolate - and inhale the aroma, and exhale to cool it down.
Adding a 'Breathing Button' to this also helps to cement that when they touch or hold the designated object they take a deep breath. This adds to their mindfulness toolbox - when they feel anxious, they purposefully go over and touch or hold that object and take a deep breath.
Not only does this take their mind off those other feelings they are feeling, it is putting the control back into their hands by choosing the object and using it when they need to.
