"The Doomsday" Glacier. Why are scientists so concerned?

🧊 One of the most dangerous glaciers in Antarctica is the Thwaites Glacier.

This glacier is comparable in size to Great Britain and is considered to be the widest glacier in the world. If the Thwaites Glacier collapses into the ocean, it could cause a catastrophic rise in sea level and flood such major cities in the world as Shanghai, New York, Miami, Tokyo and Mumbai. That's why the glacier was named - the Doomsday Glacier.

The Glacier is melting irreversibly, and we do not know how much time is left before the global disaster.
