Why won't some people listen to sound doctrine according to Paul (2 Ti. 4:3)?

Many Christians will tell you that the Bible is the book that guides their lives. This means they read it, study it, and listen to what it says.

Let us test that assumption against what Saint Paul said. "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;" - 2 Timothy 4:3.
