How to WORK REMOTE in Thailand in 2022

More and more companies are allowing workers to work offshore for 90 days in the year. This is how to do it: https://www.baansmile.com/remote-work

And today we decided to make this video on how you can do it.

I’m assuming you are in North America, Europe, Australia or some other country outside of Thailand. And your employer has sent out the memo.

YES you can work from home Hooray!

But not so fast!

#1 They might have limited you to be in the same time zone.

#2 They might have limited you to be in the same country, for tax and legal reasons.

#3 They might have put a limit on how long you can work remotely in another country.

And that’s what we have noticed starting to happen.

Recently the company AirBnB and a bunch of other companies have said workers can work from home. But they can only work in a different country for up to 90 days.

Now this is perfect.

And it sort of makes sense.

As a software developer myself the whole idea of working on the beach with a laptop and a Chang Beer by my side sounds good.

But really, let’s keep it real guys, its not. Most creative work requires deep focus. Employers are not stupid. That’s why they had offices — so they could get the team together and put the whip to everyone in the same room.

Anyway, it seems to be a growing trend, that some companies are allowing employees to work abroad for up to 3 months.

So here’s how you want to do it…

If you already work remotely, you can go ask your HR department if you can work remotely for 3 months in another country.

Give some excuse that it’s a good idea to focus on an important project during this time.

And in actual fact, studies show that moving to a new environment for a least 30 days help to rewire your brain and you can actually become more productive.

So what’s the next step?

You should apply for your 60 day Thai visa in your country. If you’re doing it online this should take no more than 10 days.

The next step is to figure out where you want to stay. You can use Agoda or AirBnB for this. Generally, you would be spending around 500 to 700 US dollars per month. Certainly not a bad price.

Not If you do want to stay in a hotel in Bangkok, then expect to pay about 50 to 100% more of this price for a GOOD hotel. Not a seedy hotel with lots of traffic noise. And there are some benefits to a hotel, in that they clean your room every day.

Make sure when you’re selecting a place it has good internet. You can ask what the internet speeds are. But here in Bangkok we generally have speeds from about 50 Megabits per second all the way up to gigabit fiber speeds. And unless you’re uploading or downloading multi-gigabit files every day, this is going to be more than enough.

Of course, once you get into Bangkok, you will buy a SIM card with 90 day unlimited service. For 10 Megabit speeds this is going to be about 1,000 Thai Baht, or about 30 US dollars for the full 90 day period.

Finally, you just need to buy your flight once you get your visa and then get into Thailand.

But if you don’t want to get into all of this hassle, we have a package that takes care of all of this:

* We’ll get your 60 day tourist visa for you
* Then we get your thailand pass sorted out — if you still need it
* We make sure you get the 30 day extension after you arrive

* And make sure you have the perfect high speed internet
* Don’t forget, we will get that 90 day unlimited service SIM card for your iPhone or Android
* And Finally, the most important thing — you get a special phone number that you can call or text us for anything you want. From translating, deciding where to buy something, or ordering any kind of personal service you want.
