Now how does this square with “everlasting covenant” and “forever” language found earlier in Torah in describing God’s covenant with His people? It looks like God is saying that He will keep up the curses until His people are destroyed. This kind of language is used by the dispensational theologians to say that God is finished with Israel and that they, the “Church” has replaced Israel as God’s chosen people.
Evidently, Paul the Apostle had to deal with the same problem in the 1st century too. He asks the question in his letter to the congregation in Rome.
