Hey, sam my name is will I'm from Minnesota. Just give me one second to walk up these stairs. All right we'll be walking upstairs from Minnesota. 14 000 nurses are on strike today. Yes, I was calling about that. My mom and my best friend's girlfriend are marching today. It's a 72-hour strike. Three days. And I was gonna just ask for a shout-out. Because yeah in every hospital in Minnesota right now. Yep so there that I mean you know I can assume that that listeners you know can sort of piece together what they're protesting. but it's the traveling nurses that are an issue. They're getting paid 200 to 300 an hour. And my mom for example pulls in 250 a day. Wow. Working a 10-hour shift. So they're protesting that for a better contract. That limits the pay of traveling nurses and increases their pay. So I think it's one of the biggest strikes in Minnesota history. I think it could be the biggest strike certainly in Minnesota's history for private nurses. without a doubt. and in this dynamic you know we talked about you know pretty extensively like the Worcester nurse strike at saint Vincent. This dynamic where you have this has been going on for a while. I had my ex-wife's mother's a nurse. and this dynamic has been going on for a while. where you have these big medical holding companies essentially come in they buy a bunch of hospitals. they will then essentially merge the facilities. they will cut so-called fat from the redundancy at that point. and they basically say to first off then what happens is fewer hospitals for them to work at. so the hospitals have a bit of a monopsony. which is essentially saying that like they have a labor monopsony. which basically says you don't really have too many options anymore because we own all the hospitals essentially one or two entities own like you know whatever it is all the hospitals in this region.
