The Charger made it’s debut in 1964 as a 1965 Charger II concept car, which was very similar to the 1966 production version. Since then there has been a total of 6 generations thus far.

First generation was built from 1966–1967 which was a two-door fastback body design based of the Chrysler B platform shared by the Coronet. The Second generation was built from 1968–1970 and it was a re-design of the first generation with some modifications to both the interior and exterior of the vehicle.

It still used the same Chrysler B platform but now it came with an undivided grill, rounded tail lights, and hidden headlights. Dodge originally planned on building 35,000 units but demand was so high that they ended up building 96,100 units instead, that’s more than 2.5 times than they originally intended on building…

The third generation was from 1971–1974, it was modified once again to meet new emissions and it offered six different packages. Some of those packages included the new split grill, the semi-fastback rear window, and a ducktail spoiler.

In the Fourth generation from 1975–1978, Dodge decided to move the charger into to a new direction with a luxury focus. They were really going for the personal luxury car market.

The fifth generation from 1982–1987 is where in my opinion dropped the ball, this is the charger that nobody remembers, it was built for 5 years and they even offered a shelby Charger… This was the end of the iconic Charger…

Fast forward 20 years and the Charger was back!!! But this time it became a 4 door sedan.

The Sixth generation was from 2006–2010 and it was based off the Chrysler LX body and it offered 3 core models. The SE, SXT, and the R/T. The R/T also had a coupe packages available, the Road & Track Performance Group and the Daytona R/T, technically they are still R/T models so I’m not counting them as stand-alone models. I’m also not counting the Police package for obvious reasons.

This is the Charger that you know, you’ve seen it around town, you’ve probably owned or wanted to own one at one point, this is also the first time that AWD became available. You could ge the Charger in a v6, Hemi v8 and the SRT8 6.1L Hemi V8 designed for performance, this model was completely loaded with features and tons of tech.

We are currently on the Seventh generation. A lot has happened and it’s been completely redesigned and loaded with even more tech. The Hellcat made its debut along with the Redeye, the Jailbreak. Widebody models were introduced, the SE was retired and they added the GT model along with colors.

In 2020, Dodge offered 4 new colors. Smoke Show, Sinnamon Stick, Frostbite, and Hellraisin which replaced Plum Crazy. (We’ll get into colors in another video)

This is the Charger Scat Pack Widebody and it has the 6.4L HEMI® V8 engine with Fuel Saver Technology and it puts out 485 hp
It comes with Adaptive damping suspension, Widebody competition suspension, Brembo six-piston front brake calipers with the SRT logo, 20” Devil’s Rim aluminum wheels, 305/35ZR20 all-season performance tires, Body-color Widebody fender flares that adds 3.5 inches of overall width, Leather-trimmed flat-bottom steering wheel, and Performance shift indicator.
Plus, the option of the 15” two-piece slotted and vented rotors, and the Functional hood scoop.
What do you think about the color and overall Charger, do you see yourself driving one?
