8th in our series the Prophet Zephaniah

I. A Blasphemous Theology - Zephaniah 1:12
* A. They claim that God is not just, compassionate or caring
* 1. That He judges no one
* 2. That He is completely disconnected from this world
* B. The Lord’s punishment for their wicked theology is just


II. The Judgement of the Lord - Zephaniah 1:13
* A. Their property rights shall be violated
* 1. This fulfills the warnings God gave Israel - Deuteronomy 28:13-16, 25-26, 30-34, 43-45
* 2. Israel would find that they labor but never are able to enjoy the fruits of their labor 
* B. God’s Judgment brings warfare, distress and calamity - Zephaniah 1:14-16
* 1. They didn’t believe the omnipotence and justice of Almighty God
* 2. God will expose their blasphemous theology in real time 
* a. It will take place swiftly
* b. It will be a deeply bitter experience for Israel
* c. The powerful will be in great distress
* d. The strongholds will fail
* C. How do we prevent this catastrophe? Learn to Fear the Lord

* b. His purity, moral perfection
* 2. Understand the Wrath of God - Psalm 7:11
* 3. Learn the Righteous standards of God - Amos 5:24
* 4. Apply the Just judgments of God - Deuteronomy 16:18-19
