The bird of paradise, also known by the spelling bird-of-paradise, is a bird that inhabits the tropical woods of Australia and the nearby islands. The majority of kinds exhibit sexual dimorphism, or physical differences between males and females. The males have long, vividly colored feathers streaming from their heads, beaks, wings, or tails, while the females have subdued hues and short feathers. They perform magnificent mating dances using their ornate feathers in an effort to catch the attention of a female.
