Why is the gospel such good news? Because it reveals the righteousness of God. So, why is that good? Because the wrath of God has been revealed against all unrighteousness. To stand before God without righteousness is to be exposed to His wrath. That's the bad news. The good news will never be appreciated until we understand the bad news. The wages of sin is death."In the day that you eat the forbidden fruit you will die." Sin demands the forfeiture of life. But God accepts a substitute. This is what we call penal substitution. The wrath of God that was due to us has fallen upon God's own dear Son. That's what is so amazing about grace! The grace of God shines against a backdrop of judgment-deserving sin. Where sin abounds God's grace abounds much more. Feedback welcomed.
