Pensive Norwich Terrier gazes outside
Why are Norwich Terriers so cherished? They have everything. They're a gorgeous, content, and zestful Terrier, one of the smaller breeds.
And those cute, perky ears, too!
The Norwich Terrier was developed in the United Kingdom and England in the late 19th century to purge farms of small rodents, fox, and various vermin. The little Norwiches were so popular with Cambridge undergraduates that they frequently kept them in their dorms and even declared the breed to be the university's mascot.
Although the Norwich's precise ancestry is unknown, it is thought that they descended from little red Terriers, who were Irish Terrier offspring that had been present in the region since at least the 1860s.
The Norfolk Terrier and the Norwich Terrier are nearly identical twin breeds. In fact, they were once thought to be the same thing. The Norfolk has drop ears, but the Norwich has prick ears, which is the key visual distinction.
This dog used to be an outside dog but is no longer. He enjoys being outside with his friends, but he must stay inside at night and when left alone.
The Norwich is known to get into tiffs because he refuses to back down when pressed. That is undoubtedly a quality carried over from his days as a serious hunter. He also has a strong, independent side. Although persistence is in his DNA, he is also quite trainable. This dog is a keeper if you catch those negative tendencies early. But if left alone, he might not end up being the best puppy at all.
This breed has enormous potential to be an almost ideal tiny dog. He is extremely smart, lovable, and social.
The Norwich Terrier is a diminutive dog that is only 9 to 10 inches tall and weighs between 11 and 12 pounds.
The intelligent and high-energy Norwich Terrier is a popular pet. To keep him content and healthy as well as to keep him out of trouble, it is advised to give him lots of daily activity. He is prone to getting into trouble if his energy is not released.
This dog enjoys chasing balls because, at his core, he is a hunter. It's a great way to strengthen your relationship with him and give him some exercise at the same time.
Don't forget to challenge this kid's brain as well. Because of his high intelligence and sharpness, he needs to be stretched with puzzles and other problem-solving-related tasks.
Make sure his toy box is always full. He enjoys having fun, and loves to play with a good variety of toys.
