Who Will Commit to Your Trust
(Being Faithful as a Steward)
Text: Luke 16
Obj: that the brethren may be faithful to the Lord and His entrusted work

Intro:
Faithful - Steadfast in affection or allegiance
- in marriage/relationship – stick to one, - fidelity to an original
- n. - loyal and steadfast following

Biblical Examples of Faithfulness:
1. The Lord God Himself – Deut. 7:9, 1 Kings 8:56, Ps. 36:5, Ps. 89:1, Ps. 105:8,
a. 1Cor. 1:9, Heb. 6:18 --- *1Pet. 4:19
2. Jesus Christ – 1Th. 5:24, 2Th. 3:3, 2Tim. 2:13, Heb. 2:17, Heb. 10:23, Rev. 1:5, Rev. 19:11
3. Faithfulness to God - Num. 12:7; 14:24; 1King 19:18, Ne 7:2; 1Cor. 4:17; Col. 1:7; 4:9, rev..17:14
4. Rewards of the faithful - Mat 24:45, Luke 19:17, rev. 2:10, rev. 20:4
5. Faithfulness in keeping the covenant with God - Ex. 19:5, Deut 33:9, Ps. 103:17-18, Ps. 132:12
6. Warning to the Unfaithful - Mat 21:43, Mat 25: 24-25
Where and Why Faithfulness/Fidelity is so important:
1. In Business, Work, Career – vv.1-9 - Parable of the Unjust Steward
a. It is expected from all
b. Comparison made to the things of God – v.13
2. In Trying times – vv.14-15 - deliverance is in the end
a. We should expect opposition
b. We should expect deliverance from the Lord
3. In Faithful service to the Lord – it will endure for a long time
a. Example on handling the Word of God – the Scriptures – v.17
4. In the Most important of Relationships – it makes the relationship rewarding
a. V. 18 –marriage
b. The church is the ‘bride of Christ’
5. In Salvation – vv. 19-31
a. The Lord was Faithful in bringing us salvation – v. 23
b. Let us be faithful that others may also be saved – v.31 – don’t rely on the dead!
Message/conclusion:

Let us be faithful to the Lord and His entrusted work and in Everything
