French air traffic controllers on strike as negotiations with French government stall.

French air traffic controllers are taking industrial action on Friday as negotiations with the French government over wages and recruitment issues stall. “In the absence of concrete elements and commitments from public authorities which would, on the one hand, preserve a high level of public service in aerial navigation and on the other hand, catch up with inflation (…), SNCTA maintains its announcement of a strike on Friday 16th September,” a statement from SNCTA read on Wednesday. SNCTA, which stands for the French Syndicat National des Contrôleurs du Trafic Aérien, is the country's main union for traffic controllers. “After several months spent negotiating to get fair and adapted answers, SNCTA, the main union for traffic controllers, laments the lack of concrete elements and guarantees from public authorities,” their statement added.

The strike is set to last from 6:00am CEST (00:00am ET) Friday morning till 6:00am CEST Saturday morning.
