Why You Must Do This 5 Min Warm Up Before Exercise Is Trending Right Now
Everyone knows that doing regular exercise can contribute to your health and well-being. However, a lot of people find it difficult to fit their workouts into their busy schedules. That's because most people don't warm up before they exercise. Ironically, a short period of warming up can help you complete your exercises with ease and reduce your risk of injury.
In today's world, people spend more time sitting in front of their computers or vehicles than they do moving about. This trend has created a lot of healthcare problems for the nation's workers. For example, a study in the American Journal of Public Health found that long periods of sitting increase the risk of death, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes. To combat these issues, people are now starting to include a 5-minute warm-up into their daily routines. By doing so, they no longer have to skip their workouts due to discomfort or fatigue.
Warm-ups are typically done before physical activity because they prepare your muscles for future exertion. It provides an opportunity to regulate your body temperature, blood pressure, and muscle tension. In addition, a proper warm-up can increase your blood flow and improve your muscle strength and flexibility. Essentially, a well-done warm-up can make you feel more comfortable during your workout and help you get results.
Many athletes - both professional and amateur - now do a short 5-minute warm-up before training or competing in competitions. This practice is known as active rest or dynamic preparation (DDP). DDP consists of stretching, light cardio, and mobility exercises designed to prepare you for the rigors of exercise. The exercises performed during dynamic rest are similar to those you'd perform during your warm-up. That's why many people refer to them as 'warming up for warming up.'
A 5-minute warm-up improves your performance and prevents fatigue and injuries. Therefore, increasing the spread of pre-workout activities has led to an increase in bodily fitness levels among both athletes and the general public. As such, it makes perfect sense that this currently trending practice is here to stay!
