ரிலையன்ஸ் ஜியோ சாட்டிலைட் கம்யுனிகேஷன்ஸ் நிறுவனம் திங்கட்கிழமை இதற்கான அனுமதி கடிதத்தைப் பெற்றதாக பிடிஐ தெரிவித்துள்ளது.

மேலும் சாட்டிலைட் மூலம் உலகம் முழுவதும் தனிப்பட்ட மொபைல் நெட்வொர்க் சேவையை வழங்கவும் தொலைத்தொடர்பு சேவையை வழங்கி உள்ளது.

சாட்டிலைட் தொலைத்தொடர்பு சேவை உரிமம் ஜியோவுக்கு கிடைத்துள்ள இந்த உரிமம் மூலம் 20 வருட காலத்திற்கு GMPCS சேவைகளை அமைத்து இயக்க முடியும்.

சேவையை தொடங்குவதிலிருந்து 20 வருட காலத்திற்கு இந்த உரிமம் வழங்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. இதன் மூலம் ஜியோவால் செயற்கைக்கோள் வழியாக குரல் மற்றும் தரவு சேவைகளை வழங்க முடியும். இந்த மொபைல்
செயற்கைக்கோள் நெட்வொர்க்குகள் குறைந்த பூமி சுற்றுப்பாதை (LEO), நடுத்தர பூமி சுற்றுப்பாதை (MEO) மற்றும் ஜியோசின்க்ரோனஸ் (GEO) செயற்கைக்கோள்களுடன் செயல்பட முடியும்.

கூட்டு முயற்சி சென்ற ஆண்டு ஜியோ நிறுவனம் இந்தியாவில் செயற்கைக்கோள் அடிப்படையிலான பிராட்பேண்ட் சேவைகளை வழங்க லக்சம்பேர்க்கை தளமாகக் கொண்ட SES நிறுவனத்துடன் ஒப்பந்தம் போட்டது. அதில் ரிலையன்ஸ் ஜியோவுக்கு 51 சதவீத பங்குகளும், SES-க்கு 49 சதவீத பங்குகளும் உள்ளன.

டெஸ்டாவின் ஸ்டார்லிங்க் இதே போன்ற சாட்டிலைட் அடிப்படையிலான இணையதள சேவையை எலன் மஸ்க்கின் ஸ்டார் லிங்க் நிறுவனமும் அமெரிக்கா, உக்ரைன் உள்ளிட்ட நாடுகளில் வழங்கி வருகிறது. ஸ்டார் லிங்க் சேவைக்கு இந்தியாவில் இன்னும் உரிமம் வழங்கப்படவில்லை.

இந்நிலையில் ஸ்டார் லிங்கிற்கு முன்பாக இந்தியாவில் சாட்டிலைட் அடிப்படையிலான பிராட்பேண்ட் சேவையை வழங்கும் உரிமத்தை ஜியோ பெற்றுள்ளது.

உள்கட்டமைப்பு வசதிகள் ஏற்பாடு செய்யப்படும். பிராட்பேண்ட் சேவை வழங்குவதற்கான ஒப்பந்தங்கள் போன்றவை இந்த கூட்டு முயற்சியில் போடப்பட்டுள்ளது. இதன் மதிப்பு 100 மில்லியன் டாலர் என தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

Reliance Jio gets DoT's nod for satellite-based broadband services
A unit of Reliance Jio Infocomm has received the telecom department's approval for satellite-based high-speed broadband services, according to a report.

The letter was issued to Jio Satellite Communications Ltd (JSCL) on Monday, news agency PTI reported, citing sources. The sources, meanwhile, said the Department of Telecom (DoT) has granted a Letter of Intent for global mobile personal communication by satellite
With this, Jio can set up and operate the GMPCS services in the licensed service areas. The licences are for a period of 20 years (from the date of its grant after fulfilling stipulated conditions). The offering under GMPCS includes voice and data services via satellite. These mobile satellite networks can operate with the low-earth orbit (LEO), medium Earth orbit (MEO) and Geosynchronous (GEO) satellites.
Earlier this year, Jio had announced a joint venture to provide satellite-based broadband services across India, joining the race with billionaires Elon Musk's SpaceX and Sunil Mittal's OneWeb to offer reliable, high-speed internet everywhere. Jio Platforms had announced a joint venture with Luxembourg-based SES to provide satellite-based broadband services in India.
Jio owns 51 per cent equity in the joint venture, while SES holds a 49 per cent stake.
