Hebrews was written to a Jewish community who were making the transition from the old covenant to the new covenant. This was not easy for them because their mindset had been shaped by centuries of tradition. The author seeks to help them by demonstrating the superiority of Christ over the types and shadows of Judaism. That's why Hebrews is called 'the letter of the better'. Jesus is far better than what religion has to offer. He is God's complete and final message to the world.
