What is a Ghost Follower? And Why is My Instagram Reach Down? In many cases, having too many ghost followers can cause accounts to lose engagement and reach. You may see your reach drop if you accumulate too many of these inactive Ghost Followers.

I explain what a ghost follower is, how to avoid ghost followers, and how to get rid of ghost followers. Removing Ghost Followers is usually important for maintaining and achieving fast growth on IG. As you'll see in next month's video, after getting rid of the ghost followers on my page, my accounts reached will likely increase. This has been the trend in the past, as I've shown in my IG Growth Hacks series.

Instagram Ghost Followers will hurt your page's engagement rate and the engagement that you get on content, by being inactive. That's why they're referred to as Ghost followers. They're following you, but they don't interact with anything you post. This decrease in engagement will lead to a decrease in growth, and result in your Instagram being stuck and not growing. If you're trying to boost your engagement, then do this - remove ghost followers. If you're trying to get more followers on Instagram, then again, get rid of Ghost Followers.

They seem like they're helping you because your followers number is higher, but in reality, they stop your growth over time. The decrease in engagement that comes from having too many inactive ghost followers will tell Instagram's algorithm not to push your content. The low engagement will communicate to the algorithm that your content is bad. Instagram won't give you more reach and more followers if they think your content is bad. Ghost Followers for this reason, are dead weight for your page.

Hashtags, Reels, Profile Optimization, etc. are important growth boosters on Insta, but still - this is one of the best growth tricks I've found.

You have to be careful with it - you don't want to trigger any action blocks or action bans by removing too many followers. If you're curious how to remove followers on Instagram, just go into your followers tab and there should be a "Remove" button next to each name. It's there for a reason. Instagram knows that some followers can hurt your page.

Just make sure that you follow the guidelines set in this video. If you do catch an action ban though, lay low and don't remove any ghost followers for at least two weeks. Wait for Instagram to trust your page again, and then start removing followers slowly.

*Once again, removing followers comes with risks. Perform this growth tip at your own risk. I'm simply sharing what I do and what's worked for me on Instagram.

Instagram constantly has new updates, but even so, this growth hack has remained a help for me. In 2022 I've used it, and I'll be doing it in 2023.
