Bakersfield, California – A Bakersfield police officer shot at but missed a man armed with a rock who allegedly tried to break into a southwest Bakersfield home on August 15, 2022

Police were responding to the area of Amazon Jade Street and Aquamarine Peak Drive, near Ridgeview High at about 5:20 a.m. to a report of a man, identified as Martiano Jimenez, 35, trying to force his way into a home. An officer arrived and Jimenez ignored commands and walked toward the officer while holding a rock, according to a BPD release.

Body cam video shows the officer fired his duty weapon but Jimenez was not hit - another officer used a Taser. Jimenez was tased and arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault, attempted burglary, felony vandalism and public intoxication.

Neighbors said they are afraid for their safety following the incident.
