Matilda is a Forensic Social Worker & human rights campaigner with 30 years' experience specialising in complex & compounding psychosocial barriers; including child protection, homelessness, poverty, hoarding, squalor & disabilities.

Matilda is a Former National Secretary of Whistle-blowers Australia who has dedicated her life to ensuring government accountability, integrity & transparency.

A skilled researcher, in 2000, Matilda featured in the SBS Insight program ("Bullies at Work"), exposing corruption at the highest levels of government in the form of the Scheme Critical List. In 2010, Matilda carried out extensive research into the National Crimes Authority (NCA) bombing which was then referred to the Office of Prime Minister by a member of the Legislative Council seeking a Royal Commission inquiry into those findings.

Matilda has been a host to overseas students from Iran, Japan & China & has cared for many Foster children. Matilda has spent her life practicing Community Development & is a Founding Member of the Community Linkages, Inclusion & Innovation Centre Inc (CLIIC). Matilda believes in personal property rights, small businesses, lean government, minimal regulation, flat council rates & civil liberties.

Dear Resident of City of Salisbury.

We wish to announce that Severina Burner (Central Ward), Grace Bawden (North Ward), Luke Bawden (West Ward) & Matilda Bawden (Para Ward) will be running for this coming Local Government (Council) elections. Ballot papers will be available by post from 14th October & must reach the Returning Officer by 5pm Thursday 10th November. We are supporting long-standing Mayor Gillian Aldridge for Mayor & welcome any issues, questions or inquiries you might have.

We seek to promote:
* A flat rate of council fees, regardless of property value. Low-income ratepayers should not be slugged council rates based on projected property valuations. No resident should lose their home when they become “asset rich/income poor”, especially after suffering a disability, losing their job or simply aging.
* Lean councils that largely stick to “rates, roads, rubbish”. Ratepayers should not be funding the private political campaigns & divisive agendas of Councillors or their corporate sponsors, especially when they offend the personal, religious & political values of rate-payers, at their expense.
* Building greater community development projects using volunteers rather than paid council employees to connect residents to much-needed advocacy, goods & services (e.g. Centrelink; corrections supports; legal services; financial counselling; disability & aged services; homelessness & housing services, etc…).
* Small businesses, hobbies & home-based employment opportunities, including food production & self-sufficiency.

We oppose:
* Council mergers & centralisation
* Cuts to existing weekly rubbish collection services
* Council revenue raising & taxing of ratepayers.
