John 16:8 Don’t try to convict anyone of their sin because that’s the Holy Spirit’s job!?

Does John 16:8 really prove that Christians and preachers of the gospel should never preach against sin or try to preach in a convicting way in order to get the lost to repent and be saved? You hear this constantly from Christians who don’t believe that hard preaching is necessary but if you look at other verses in the Bible that are related to John 16:8 you will start to better understand what Jesus meant.

Acts 24:24-25
And after certain days, when Felix came with his wife Drusilla, which was a Jewess, he sent for Paul, and heard him concerning the faith in Christ. 25 And as he reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come, Felix trembled, and answered, Go thy way for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee.

Micah 3:8
But truly I am full of power by the spirit of the LORD, and of judgment, and of might, to declare unto Jacob his transgression, and to Israel his sin.

Ephesians 5 11
And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
12 For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.
13  But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.
14  Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.
