Debate over charter schools in Kern County

According to the National Center for Education Statistics, between 2009 and 2019, overall public charter school enrollment increased from 1.6 million to 3.4 million students. The number of charter schools also increased from 5,000 to 7,500. At the same time, the percentage of public school students who attend charter schools increased from 3 to 7 percent.
