Astronomical observatory in Syria built with local expertise

Despite limited funding and difficulties importing key parts, the Syrian astronomical association built a large telescope and dome to scour the sky in greater detail. A Syrian project through and through, the society brought together blacksmiths and engineers to manufacture and assemble the majority of the telescope.
