We are continuing our study of our fundamental rights as protected by the Constitution of the United States. This time we explore the Eighth Amendment of the Constitution. With a touch of history and various perspectives, let us look at the least specific amendment. Why on earth would you focus on Excessive Bail and Fines or Cruel and Unusual? England was civilized, right? Would not only tyrants use such punishments? Why would The English Parlement establish a form of the eighth amendment? Who was Titus Oates?
