The Staple Singers - Will The Circle Be Unbroken -1960 Release
In the late 1940's Roebuck "Pops" Staples founded the group with his children Cleotha, Pervis, Yvonne and Mavis Staple. They began singing in Chicago, Illinois churches and signed a recording contract in 1952.
"Will the Circle be Unbroken" was released by Vee-Jay records in 1960, although the music and lyrics were written in 1907 by Charles H. Gabriel and Ada R. Habershon. This popular Christian hymn has been covered countless times, by such bands and musicians as The Carter Family, Bob Dylan, The Band and Joan Baez.
