Mary Peltola is first Alaska Native sworn into Congress

Mary Peltola, a Democratic former state lawmaker, who won a special election to fill Alaska's sole U.S. House of Representatives seat, was sworn into office Tuesday (September 13), becoming the first Alaska Native to represent the state in Congress.
