Clear Creek County, Colorado – On June 10, 2022 in the late evening hours, a Clear Creek County deputy shot and killed 22-year-old Christian Glass after Glass called 911 for help after crashing his car into a berm. Glass, who was having a mental health crisis, told dispatchers he had two knives in the car and officer from several agencies tried for more than an hour to convince Glass to peacefully exit the vehicle. The officers decided to break the window of the car to pull Glass out, despite there being no report of a crime, and Glass grabbed a knife. The deputy shot Glass who was both armed with a knife and initiated a stabbing motion directed toward a Georgetown police officer. Officers from Clear Creek, Idaho Springs, Georgetown Police, Colorado State Patrol and the Colorado Division of Gaming were on the scene. Clear Creek County is part of the Denver metropolitan area, west of Denver.
